The Staff Accountant is responsible for creating information that is used for decision making purposes by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data.  This position ensures financial information has been recorded accurately in the general ledger.  The Staff Accountant works on the month-end close, consolidation of bank related entities and manages the pledging of the investment security portfolio for certain municipal and business deposit relationships.  The Staff Accountant has daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and reconcilement responsibilities.  The Staff Accountant reports to the SVP-Finance with daily interface with other staff of the Finance Department.  The department is located in the headquarters location on 8th Street in Manitowoc. This is an in-office position.
 

Responsibilities:

Processes daily invoices and issue payments in the Accounts Payable software
Maintain vendor files and W‑9 documentation.
Assist with annual 1099 reporting.
Reconcile corporate credit card activity.
Reviews general ledger accounts and prepares journal entries
Reconcile general ledger accounts (cash, loans, deposits, fixed assets, suspense accounts).
Provide support to branch staff on accounting-related questions.
Follow internal control procedures for financial operations.
Participates in educational opportunities
Participates in professional organizations.
Other duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; equivalent experience (2–4 years in accounting or 1–2 years in banking) will be considered
Must have strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Detailed and deadline oriented
