Summary
Barry University School of Law seeks Student Office Assistants for Law Career Services. These are temporary, part-time positions working approximately 10 hours per week. The Student Office Assistant will provide support for the Career Services office staff on distinct projects including, but not limited to, marketing (internal and external) of office, programs, and events and development of employer outreach plan.
Essential Functions
Develop and support the creation of professional and visually effective promotional materials for department programs, including but not limited to flyers, Barry Connect announcements, email and newsletter content, and social media updates. Additionally, research employment opportunities across various platforms and upload relevant postings to Barry Connect.
Assist staff with maintaining handout kiosks, resource library, promoting programs and covering office hours to assist students in-person and by phone.
Assist staff in developing outreach resource list and spreadsheet for contacts; prepare packets and materials to assist in successful outreach visits. Help identify leads and coordinate schedule for outreach visits.
Assist with maintaining departmental social media pages including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter; provide suggestions for maximizing student and alumni connectivity and traffic on pages.
Input, edit, and update employer, event, sign-in, and other information on Barry Connect.
Conduct basic cleaning tasks, organize inventory of food for programs and events; maintain inventory for employer outreach marketing materials and promotional items.
Provide coverage at administrative desk during lunches and a minimum of one evening (Monday or Thursday) until 6pm.
Assist with setup and operation of programs when scheduled.
Qualifications/Requirements
Must be a Barry Law student in good academic standing.
One to three years of related experience preferred with prior experience creating visually appealing flyers and/or displays highly desirable.
Must be a quick learner and creative thinker. Cheerful disposition and diligence to complete tasks are essential characteristics.
Creative thought is often required relating to promotions, marketing, outreach, and problem solving; ability to consider various perspectives of students.
Ability to move a project forward without much supervision; asking questions as needed to clarify.
Proficient in Word, Excel, Publisher, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter).
Knowledge and ability to use phone, fax, copier, scanner, laminator, computer, label maker, etc.
Good oral and written communication skills, along with a pleasant telephone manner.
