About the role

The Nuclear Company is the fastest growing startup in the nuclear and energy space creating a never before seen fleet-scale approach to building nuclear reactors. Through its design-once, build-many approach and coalition building across communities, regulators, and financial stakeholders, The Nuclear Company is committed to delivering safe and reliable electricity at the lowest cost, while catalyzing the nuclear industry toward rapid development in America and globally.

About the role

The Senior Vice President of Human Resources is a critical member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for architecting and executing a people strategy that fuels The Nuclear Company’s growth. This is a builder's role: you will be expected to elevate HR from a transactional function to a true strategic partner, enabling the business to attract world-class talent, develop high-performing teams, and sustain a distinctive, mission-driven and values-based culture.

Responsibilities

People Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO and executive team on all matters related to people, organization design, and culture.
  • Translate business strategy into a multi-year people roadmap, with clear priorities around talent acquisition, retention, development, and culture.
  • Partner with executives on compensation, succession planning, and workforce risk.
  • Provide data-driven insights through HR analytics; design dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into workforce health and trends.

Culture, DEI & Employee Experience

  • Define, measure, and evolve The Nuclear Company's culture as the company scales across geographies and functions.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy with measurable goals, accountability mechanisms, and transparent reporting.
  • Champion employee engagement; own the annual engagement survey process and translate insights into meaningful action plans.
  • Create programming that connects employees to The Nuclear Company's mission in the energy transition, fostering a sense of purpose and belonging.

Organizational Development & Learning

  • Build scalable leadership development programs that grow The Nuclear Company's next generation of managers and executives.
  • Own performance management design and execution, ensuring the system drives growth conversations rather than compliance exercises.
  • Design career pathing and internal mobility frameworks that improve retention and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Partner with functional leaders to identify organizational design needs and lead restructuring efforts as the business evolves.

Total Rewards

  • Develop and maintain competitive, equitable compensation and benefits programs benchmarked against both tech and energy industry peers.
  • Oversee equity plan administration, working closely with Legal and Finance to manage option grants, refreshes, and vesting through growth and potential liquidity events.

People Operations

  • Ensure HR operations, systems, and processes are scalable, compliant, and employee-friendly.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment law across all operating jurisdictions; proactively manage employment risk.
  • Knowledge of Labor Law and Labor relations with an ability to navigate the culture of a non-exempt workforce.
  • Insight into managing Internal Communications.
  • Experience with scaling office operations culture throughout our offices.

Experience

  • 20+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior CHRO, VP of People, or equivalent role.
  • Demonstrated success scaling a people function through rapid headcount growth in a tech-forward environment.
  • Track record of building and developing high-performing HR teams and operating as a true business partner at the C-suite level.
  • Deep expertise across the full HR lifecycle: talent acquisition, total rewards, organizational development, employee relations, and HR technology.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust quickly with diverse audiences including engineers, executives, and board members.
