About the role

Job Summary

Operate forklifts to load flatbed and box trucks, maintain warehouse organization, and assist in performing cycle counts. This position also includes operating the yard tractor to move trailers safely within the facility. The employee will be expected to fill in on other plant jobs as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily inspections and operation of propane sit down lift
  • Operate propane sit-down forklifts safely, complete daily inspections and maintenance checks.
  • Safely operate the yard truck to hook, back in, pull out, and park empty and loaded trailers.
  • Perform daily inspections to ensure yard trucks and trailers are in safe and operable condition.
  • Load and unload materials onto flatbed and box trucks; secure loads using straps and edge protectors when needed.
  • Pick and stage customer orders, including partial orders.
  • Inspect all materials for quality defects before loading.
  • Verify that proper materials are loaded on each truck.
  • Complete and process all paperwork or digital documentation (RFGen, SAP/SAPI, or comparable systems).
  • Handle material throughout the warehouse safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct random and month-end inventory counts; support inventory control and cycle counts.
  • Maintain warehouse organization and plant housekeeping (inside and outside).
  • Properly scrap, segregate, and report defective or damaged product.
  • Communicate effectively with truck drivers, dispatchers, traffic clerks, supervisors, and managers.
  • Assist in training new team members and support co-workers as needed.
  • Fill in on other plant jobs as assigned (e.g., line driver, production line, etc.).
  • Perform occasional tarping of loads and related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Valid forklift certification and demonstrated safe forklift operation.
  • Knowledge of entire warehouse layout, product codes, and batch numbers.
  • Basic understanding of shipping orders, bills of lading, and related paperwork.
  • Familiarity with SAP, RFGen, or comparable computer systems.
  • Basic mechanical understanding of tractor-trailers (air hoses, brakes, safety inspections).
  • Ability to identify possible product or trailer defects.
  • Understanding of general safety policies and the impact of shipping incorrect or defective product.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment safely and communicate effectively by radio.
  • Knowledge of safety aspects of all equipment operated as well as the plant’s general safety

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience with forklift driving required
  • CDL license preferred.
