About This Job
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries and maintaining the Company’s general ledger and third-party transactions, assisting in the designing controls for the Company’s SOX program. Responsible for ad-hoc accounting, internal controls, and regulatory/compliance, and technical research and analyzing accruals and performing reconciliations.Job DescriptionResponsibilities
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, and process documents
- Review journal entries to properly account for general ledger
- Responsible for monthly accounting close for loan accounting
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly analytical review for loan accounting
- Compile quarterly financial reporting packages
- Prepare or review regulatory reports for the bank
- Prepare/review reconciliations for general ledger accounts and roll-forward schedules
- Assist in integration and automation of financial applications
- Review SOX documentation for accounting and provide best practice guidance
- Provide information and documents to internal auditors, external auditors, and regulators
- Coordinate and gather support for complex accounting projects and reporting initiatives
- Train and mentor Junior Staff Accountants and Interns
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years' public accounting or 4+ industry
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
- Highly detailed oriented and organized
- Proficiency with use of e-mail, Internet, database, process mapping and presentation software
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, V-lookups, sum ifs and data manipulation
- Maintains confidentiality and complies with privacy legislation
