Essential Job Functions
- Conduct routine overnight patrols of client properties, buildings, and perimeter areas to deter criminal activity and identify safety concerns.
- Maintain high visibility to provide a strong security presence throughout assigned locations.
- Monitor for suspicious activity, unauthorized individuals, or policy violations and respond appropriately.
- Perform thorough checks of doors, gates, vehicles, parking lots, and restricted areas to ensure they are secured.
- Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and on-site contacts regarding incidents, hazards, or operational updates.
- Document all patrol activities, observations, and incidents through detailed written reports and digital logs.
- Follow all company protocols for site access, incident escalation, and communication procedures.
- Use radios, smartphones, and other communication devices to remain reachable and responsive throughout the shift.
- De-escalate situations when possible using verbal communication and professionalism.
- Provide courteous assistance to employees, visitors, or contractors during late-night operations.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining exceptional alertness and situational awareness.
- Maintain readiness of duty gear, uniform, and assigned equipment at all times.
- Uphold Citadel Security’s standards of conduct, appearance, and customer service.
Qualifications
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States; credible references and I-9 documentation required.
- Previous security, patrol, military, or law enforcement experience preferred, but not required for strong candidates.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR); no major violations, suspensions, or DUIs.
- Must be comfortable driving for extended periods during the night, including in low-visibility or adverse weather conditions.
- Strong situational awareness with the ability to identify safety hazards, suspicious activity, and security risks.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours with minimal supervision while maintaining high alertness.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills; must interact professionally with employees, visitors, and clients.
- Must pass a criminal background check, drug test, and ongoing compliance checks if required by clients.
- Must have reliable transportation to reach assigned sites at the start/end of each shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, and conduct foot patrols in addition to vehicle patrols; capable of working in varying weather conditions.
- Must be comfortable using smartphones, GPS, radios, and digital reporting tools.
- Must own a smartphone to access schedules, dispatch updates, and reporting apps.
- Must meet all Citadel grooming and uniform standards; uniform provided.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and the ability to maintain a consistent overnight schedule.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional when responding to incidents or emergencies.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
