Your Responsibilities

 

As a Senior Engineer, Product – Embedded Software for John Deere in Urbandale, IA, you will:

 

• Be the lead technical resource on moderate to highly complex precision ag data solutions
• These precision ag data solutions require deep knowledge of the vehicle CAN Bus and Ethernet systems, the Linux based precision ag display software stack, the communication network and protocols, and the digital web-based server and database platforms
• This is an end-to-end solution from the vehicle embedded systems to the digital cloud system to the end customer visualization
• For these complex precision ag data solutions, evaluate technical options and lead technical team decision making
• Support other engineering organizations (Embedded Development, PV&V, Hardware), suppliers, and other Deere factories in meeting their responsibilities to the project
• For these complex precision ag data solutions, author or support authoring of the System Requirements Specification, including the Use Cases, Technical Specifications, and User Interface Specification
• Ensure that specifications are complete, correct, and timely
• Define, develop and implement new process, procedures and tools to improve the product development process for precision ag software
• Respond to requests from other areas of the organization or company in a timely manner
• Responds to DTAC cases with short term solutions or workarounds to customer problems and takes initiative to resolve product deficiencies identified by customers, customer support, or other field personnel. 
• 10% domestic travel required. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite. Up to 30% remote work allowed.

 

What Skills You Need

 

• 5 years of experience in software engineering using C++ Object oriented programming and Agile methodologies to design scalable and robust Ag display solutions
• 5 years of experience in Ag & Automotive domain to use industry specific standards including ISO11783 and define farming operation specific solutions
• 5 years of experience in vehicle network protocols like J1939 CAN, TCP/UDP over ethernet, MQTT, WebSocket to design seamless and real-time data exchange between the vehicle ECUs, and the IoT cloud systems
• 5 years of experience in appl
