About the role

Description

DSFederal is seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Administrator Level III to join our team in providing comprehensive IT support services. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in desktop and server systems administration, information security, and customer support. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage complex IT environments, ensure compliance with security policies, and deliver exceptional service. This is a Contingent Position.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:


Desktop and Server Systems Administration:

· Administer central desktop management services (e.g., BigFix for Windows OS) to provision and deploy computers for staff use.

· Perform desktop software deployments, system patching, centralized antivirus management, group policy management, and security endpoint management.

· Conduct system-level testing of core software images to validate performance according to approved specifications.

· Manage networked print queues and Active Directory (AD) management, including account management, AD groups management, Exchange Public Folder management, and Group Policy management.

· Provide knowledgeable staff in the areas of desktop systems administration and server systems administration.


Information Security:

· Support security aspects of workstations and print operations, deploying advanced endpoint protection solutions (e.g., antivirus, anti-malware).

· Investigate and gather technical information in response to incident alerts, working closely with the Incident Response Team.

· Identify, mitigate, and eradicate malicious or suspicious activity impacting client information systems.

· Implement security upgrades, patches, and configuration remediation measures using enterprise patch management tools.

· Provide security support for encryption (e.g., FIPS 140-2 validated encryption), PKI, digital signatures, and secure messaging.

· Ensure compliance with OMB, HHS, NIH, and client security policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.


Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

· Provide in-person, remote control, over-the-phone, and automated IT support to client computers, peripherals, mobile devices, and workstations.

· Establish and follow an escalation SOP for all tickets, accurately documenting incidents and resolutions in the IT Service Management System.

· Troubleshoot and fix security vulnerabilities identified by scanning tools, documenting actions and results.

· Address problems identified by Incident Response Team (IRT) alerts, providing detailed documentation of findings and remediation actions.

· Diagnose and remediate malware and other cybersecurity issues, ensuring thorough documentation.

· Support software installation and provide software support for users of client-provided applications.


Customer Support and Communication:

· Serve as an escalation resource for the client Help Desk and computer user community.

· Provide end-user support for Unified Communication technologies (e.g., Cisco WebEx, Microsoft Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, Zoom for Government).

· Assist with the breakdown, disconnect, setup, and reconnect of IT equipment during staff relocations.

· Track and report equipment moves to the client Property staff, ensuring accurate inventory management.

· Establish and maintain good customer relations with all customers, managers, administrators, vendors, and other service providers.


Documentation and Compliance:

· Draft and maintain technical design and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents.

· Document all work performed in client issue tracking systems.

· Provide analysis and reports from various security and systems management tools in use at the client.

· Create SOPs and establish periodic review schedules of SOPs maintained in the knowledgebase.

· Ensure that IT devices are configured for secure operation, including installation of software updates, security software, and other configurations as required.

Requirements


  

Experience Required:

· At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in IT customer support, systems administration, and information security.


Technical Skills Required:

· Proficiency in desktop system management tools (e.g., KACE, JAMF), antivirus, and other security agent endpoint management. 

· Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration and security baseline configuration.
