Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools (www.freedomprep.org) is a network of PreK-12 free public charter schools serving students in Memphis, TN, and Birmingham, AL. Our mission is to prepare all students in grades PreK-12 to excel in college and in life. Since our founding in 2009, we have grown from a class of 96 sixth grade students to now serving over 1950 students across multiple campuses. In 2024, we expanded into Birmingham, AL, starting with grades K-1, with plans to grow to a K-5 campus.

PLEASE NOTE: This positions start date will be July 14, 2025
The School Safety Officer will report to the Special Projects Manager over safety/security. Responsibilities of the School Safety Officer will include, but are not limited to:● Provide security and surveillance to the school campus, including patrolling parking lots and school grounds.● Provide security to school and network functions, including some afterschool and extracurricular activities when needed.● Investigates, monitors, and reports to administration, when appropriate, law enforcement, suspicious activity, including but not limited to theft, vandalism, and criminal mischief.● Communicates with the SPM & Dean of Operations, regarding security-related concerns and issues; works cooperatively with local law enforcement and other network personnel.● Monitors students within a variety of environments for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students and school personnel.● Builds and maintains positive professional relationships with students and school personnel as a key member of the operations team.● Deescalates confrontations between students, parents, visitors, and community members while on campus. Works to assist the school administration in the investigation of incidents, as deemed necessary by the DOO.● Assist with school safety drills under the direction of the administration.● Assist with parent pick up and drop off as directed by the administration.
