A Typical Day

The Principal, VM Servers Administration will be responsible for expertly designing, researching, developing, implementing, and maintaining hardware and software related to the VM Servers and Backups Administration area. Additionally, he/she will provide technical leadership in support, patch installation, updates, and upgrades. He/she will play a role in the creation, test, and maintenance of the disaster recovery plan.  The Principal, VM Servers Administration will also exhibit highly developed troubleshooting & analytical skill to translate higher level knowledge to others while effectively managing multiple priorities.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Servers team on the day-day operations and projects facilitating the collaboration and providing technical guidelines and best practices.
• Lead the design development and implementation of new Servers and Data Backup systems requirements coming from the business or Internal IT needs.
• Implement virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to optimize server resource utilization.
• Migrate workloads to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and manage cloud-based servers.
• Develops and maintains appropriate procedural documentation and support materials.(DRP, Processes, Diagrams, etc.)
• Communicate with those who are part of the systems user community and management in a simple convincing manner and on all levels with peers.
• Ensures the stability, reliability, uptime, high availability, performance, security and integrity of systems environment.
• Coordinates technical team to troubleshoot and resolve technical operational issues for business and technical staff.
• Act as a key member of the Infrastructure team collaborating actively with the network and end users platforms functions.
• Collaborates with the Enterprise Architecture function for all topics related to servers and  cloud strategy.

What You Will Need

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field plus 7 years’ related experience OR Master’s degree plus 3 years’ related experience or related experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary team.
• Strong troubleshooting & analytical skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills & ability to translate higher level knowledge to others.
• Excellent cross functional collaboration skills.
• Effectively manages multiple priorities.
• Consistently achieves goals in timely manner.
• Ability to understand complex business processes, rules, and demonstrate business acumen, and is subject matter expert.
• Working knowledge of server-related technology (e.g., RAID, SAN, cluster, services, DBMS, Data Backup Systems, and network applications).

What Will Put You Ahead

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field plus 10 years’ related experience OR Master's degree plus 5 years’ related experience.

Physical Demands & Work Enviornment

The work is primarily performed in an office environment and the physical demands are characteristic of a mostly sedentary role.  Specific details of the essential functions of the position is available in the Job Safety Analysis, made available on request.
