Who We Want:
Responsible for the setup and operation of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments for welding operations. Responsible for fabrication, modification, or repair of mechanical equipment.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for the setup and operation of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments for welding operations. Responsible for fabrication, modification, or repair of mechanical equipment.
- Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced tools to perform precision machining operations
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary
- Advanced weld fixture adjustments for complex systems
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate parts and components
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machinery work
- Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary
- Proactively participate in continuous improvement efforts and drive process, tooling, and equipment enhancements that will improve production efficiency and product quality
- Complete and manage work orders via the Plex systems
- Confers within engineering, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
When and Where:
This will be a 3rd Shift 930pm-530am S-Th position located at our Plant in Spartanburg, SC
Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines or urgent requests.
What You Need to Have:
- High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
- Associates degree from two-year college or technical school
- Minimum of two years of Machinist experience
- Welding proficiency with MIG, TIG, Shielded Metal Arc and brazing applications
- Strong communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Able to prioritize tasks
- Valid forklift license issued by Challenge Manufacturing
- Valid Scissor Lift license issued by Challenge Manufacturing
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as portability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Has high standards of performance for self. Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes. Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.
