Position Summary

Join Bronson at Home and experience the rewarding opportunity to provide 1:1 patient care in the comfort of patients' homes. As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you'll work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients regain mobility, improve strength, reduce pain, and maximize independence while recovering from illness, injury, surgery, or chronic conditions.

This role offers the unique ability to build meaningful relationships with patients and families while delivering personalized care that supports recovery and helps patients remain safely in their homes and communities.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide skilled physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Implement treatment plans and goals established by the supervising therapist.
  • Deliver direct one-on-one patient care in the home setting using therapeutic exercise, functional mobility training, and other prescribed interventions.
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate responses to treatment with the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, home exercise programs, safety techniques, and strategies to improve independence.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Serve as a resource in areas of clinical expertise.
  • Assist with program development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in student education and clinical rotation experiences as assigned.

Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and legible patient records.
  • Communicate documentation barriers or workflow concerns to leadership in a timely manner.
  • Participate in department meetings, committees, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills.

Leadership & Professional Development

  • Supervise Rehabilitation Clinical Assistants, PTA students, and volunteers as assigned.
  • Maintain and enhance clinical competencies through continuing education and professional development.
  • Support a collaborative culture focused on quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current Michigan Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing.
  • BLS certification within three months of hire.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation available for business use.
  • Current automobile insurance meeting Bronson requirements.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Basic computer and electronic documentation proficiency.

Preferred

  • Previous home care or rehabilitation experience.

Home Care Driving Requirements

This position requires regular travel to patient homes throughout the service area. Team members must:

  • Maintain a valid Michigan driver's license.
  • Successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) review prior to employment.
  • Maintain proof of current automobile insurance for any vehicle used while conducting Bronson business.
  • Provide updated insurance documentation as required.
