As a Reporting directly to the EVP & CFO US Front Line Label Group, the Vice President, Label Finance will provide strategic financial guidance and analysis to senior leadership of an assigned label of the Sony Music US Front Line Label Group to drive informed decision-making, optimize financial performance, and support label growth initiatives. In this role, you will serve as business partner to the label executive(s) and play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations, strategic planning, and financial analysis for the label, ensuring alignment with business unit objectives and overall Sony Music Group goals. This role requires a dynamic strategic thinker with exceptional business acumen, and proven leadership skills.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for the assigned front line label, including oversight of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, forecast and budget submissions, journal entry and expenditure approvals, compensation planning, and cost management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including A&R, A&R Administration, Marketing, Business Affairs, Legal, and People Experience in guiding financial operations of the label
  • Oversee marketing financial planning, recording cost tracking & analysis, and overhead cost control
  • Perform deal analysis for new artist signings and recording contract renegotiations to optimize profitability and minimize financial risks
  • Direct and review preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly management reports covering sales, marketing, A&R spend, artist release p&l, and overhead
  • Interface with Global Finance, internal and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with company policies & procedures and industry standards
  • Liaise with Royalty and Joint Venture Accounting in connection with review, approval, and timely rendering of statements to artists and other third parties
  • Prepare presentations of label performance, key financial metrics, risks and opportunities for meetings with label and corporate senior executives
  • Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement and efficiency within label finance operations
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies to inform strategic financial decisions and drive innovation within the organization

Who you are:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial management roles within the music industry or related entertainment sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
  • You have a proven track record of success in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with deep understanding of music industry economics, revenue streams, and deal structures
  • You have a strong understanding of financial accounting principles and proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and financial software applications (e.g., SAP including IP and BPC, Power BI, Excel)
  • You have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • You have demonstrated strategic thinking skills and business acumen, with the ability to anticipate market trends, assess competitive landscapes, and execute strategies to optimize financial performance
  • You have exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the
