Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Safety & Regulatory Affairs for the Middle East & Africa. This position will report to the Director, International Teams, Global Safety & Regulatory Affairs, will lead a small team of local hires, and will be embedded with the Dubai, UAE Boeing Global office.

This is a Long-Term International Assignment (ex-pat) to Dubai for minimum 3 years (with possibility of an extension to 5 years). Relocation/assignment benefits to the international location will be provided per standard long-term international assignee benefits. Training, as needed, for this role will be in Everett, Washington.

This role requires a high percentage of travel to other cities in the Middle East and all over Africa. Occasional travel to the USA and very occasionally Europe.

The position represents the Chief Aerospace Safety Office and the Product & Services Safety organization. Responsibilities include representing enterprise engineering interests on regulatory, policy, and safety issues to governments and safety organizations in the region. The position is responsible for formulating and executing key regulatory and safety engagement strategies to meet Boeing’s business goals and objectives.  The successful candidate will work closely with leadership of Product & Services Safety, Boeing Global, BCA and BGS, in addition to multiple external stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of direct reports as well as leading across multiple internal organizations through collaboration

  • Develop and foster relationships with regional regulatory agencies, including leaders of the various divisions (Certification, Airworthiness, Flight Standards, etc.)

  • Develop and foster relationships with international FAA offices, ICAO regional offices and regional industry associations

  • Lead and champion initiatives with the regulators and industry stakeholders

  • Appropriately partner with Engineering, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Boeing Global Services, Boeing Global, Boeing Test & Evaluation, and Sales

  • Serve as a focal point for regulatory & technical issue communications between regulatory agencies and business unit & enterprise engineering leadership

  • Provide insight on regulatory and safety policies in the region to actively promote understanding of policies by Boeing business units

  • Articulate both risk and opportunities relative to business goals

  • Participate in Boeing's global regulatory issues management process

  • Integrate with the enterprise SMS and Global Aviation Safety Initiative

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport and travel internationally without restriction

  • 3+ years of experience managing direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working as a senior leader or senior manager

  • 3+ years of experience building a safety and quality culture

  • Experience in Boeing regulatory processes e.g. SMS, rulemaking, product certification & validation

  • Experience in dynamic environments with customer and/or regulatory interactions

Long-term Assignment details:

  • Candidate must be able to obtain a work visa, depending on requirements of the country.
