The Associate Director, Network Automation Engineering will design, provide vision and strategy, develop, and execute Humana's Network Automation program across all environments. This is a management and leadership position that will direct and scale the team efficiently to support Humana's growth in healthcare services. This role will provide thought leadership, strategic design, engineering solutions and execution, across Humana's entire network and third-party ecosystems. Given the network's criticality to Humana's overall business strategy, this leader must bring a vision of how the future of network technology can enable scale and velocity while maintaining stability and consistency. Humana’s technology environment has pivoted from a centralized model over the past several years to a more federated model. This trend will continue and accelerate to the point where Humana’s technology assets and users are spread out over hundreds of vendors, offices, and geographies. This leader will evolve and own the one uniting factor that will ensure smooth operations, remain highly resilient, drive agile product development capabilities, and host core services that keep Humana and its customers connected and productive—the network.
The AD of Network Automation Engineering is expected to bring network automation and overall network architecture experience; with the engineering and operational experience and rigor that is commensurate with the increasing scale and complexity of Humana's enterprise. This management position will have the experience of leading a major enterprise successfully through such digital transformations as migration to cloud infrastructures, software-defined networks, and connectivity across multiple third-party network services through a successful automation strategy.

The scope will include the following areas of concentration:
- Modernize and manage the strategic direction of the overall network automation strategy as it relates to both network engineering and associated operational activities across teams.
- Owning end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical services and building automation to prevent problem recurrence, automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
- Partnering with internal and external business groups to develop technical solutions to meet business objectives.
- Oversee all day-to-day budgeting details specific to team/projects/etc.
- Support the elimination of existing datacenter dependencies to enable cloud/fastest-path access.
- Owning end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical services and building automation to prevent problem recurrence, automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
- Managing the migration of applications from legacy datacenter to software-defined environment.
- Building automated pipelines using AureDevOps, ServiceNow, and Ansible to spin up and configure infrastructure.
- Looking for ways to reduce manual processes by replacing with automation.
- Driving adoption and defining best practices for DevOps tools.
- End-point device connectivity architecture & implementations.
- Remote site and campus network technology to support SD-WAN implementations.
- Support L4 Troubleshooting & resolving network issues and outages through automation.
- Team management, maturity/growth, mentorship/support, and all other management responsibilities associated with running a high performing senior team.
AD additional responsibilities for these areas of concentration include, but are not limited:
- Communicate regular status updates to Manager of IT in a timely/detailed fashion (and other Senior business leaders where necessary).
- Provide and maintain updated project plan timelines for all major project initiatives.
- Manage vendors and service providers encompassing but not limited to negotiations, licensing, adherence to service level agreements, and ensuring all support and maintenance contracts and services are up-to-date and providing appropriate coverage.
- Employing DevOps and agile principles; utilizing Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, and Ansible to enable CI/CD of various cloud applications.
- Driving adoption and defining best practices for DevOps tools
- Provide direction and standards for associated network tooling, monitoring practices, and reporting to further mature and operationalize the organization.
