Responsibilities:
The Department of Foundational and Clinical Sciences at the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine at Belmont University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in physiology. This position may be offered as a tenure-track or non-tenure-track appointment, depending on qualifications and experience.
We seek a dynamic educator with a passion for innovative medical education, student mentorship, and interprofessional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have experience integrating physiological principles into clinically relevant, case-based, and team-oriented learning environments. Faculty in this role will primarily contribute to the pre-clerkship phase of the curriculum but are expected to engage across all four years of the program in support of the College’s mission to educate physicians who are compassionate, service-oriented, and committed to excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to design, implement, and evaluate student-centered, clinically integrated curriculum content in human physiology.
- Serve as a content expert and facilitator in large- and small-group learning environments, including team-based learning, case-based learning, and simulation.
- Develop and deliver high-quality instructional materials that integrate physiology with other foundational and clinical sciences.
- Assess student performance through formative and summative assessments, aligned with learning objectives and competency-based outcomes.
- Provide academic support and mentorship to students, including those pursuing scholarly work in areas related to physiology, medical education, or related disciplines.
- Engage in scholarship and contribute to the advancement of knowledge through educational research or discipline-based inquiry.
- Participate in departmental and college-level service, including course development, curriculum committees, accreditation preparation, and faculty governance.
