About the role
Overview
Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy (IMSA) is seeking an individual to fill the role of "Assistant Coach" for the co-ed Track and Field team for the upcoming Spring 2025 season. Experience in a high school coaching role or club setting is preferred. Experience with throwing shot put or discus is preferred but not necessary. This is a stipend position that is based on experience in coaching and years involved in the sport. The Assistant Coach must be able to pass a background check, pass a CPR/AED basic life saving course and possess a valid Illinois drivers license to be able to drive any of the IMSA vehicles, which include up to a 14 passenger mini-bus. (no additional tests or endorsements are needed to operate these vehicles) Any potential candidate must possess the skills to conduct practices with varying elements of field events and conditioning for increasing the performance of athletes, while also having the ability to manage a team that would include:- Working with the Coordinator of Athletics & Co-Curriculars and Head Coach for developing a competitive season of matches
- Work with our food service staff to provide meals for the athletes when off campus.
- Attend practices & matches from the start of the high school season to potential state finals.
- Coordinate and supervise any overnight stays needed for post season competition during the state series of competition.
- Transport students to practices & matches during the course of the high school season.
