Network Engineer (Senior)

Location: Kaiserslautern GE (Germany) 

Client: The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA)  

Position is located in Germany and will be an extension of the Network team located at DeCA Headquarters in Virginia.  Provide onsite support for network and telephony issues at the Defense Commissary Agency locations in Germany. 

• Working closely with the Government, Store staff, German Telcom, other service providers and Network & VOIP Engineers in the US. 
• Duties will include but are not limited to: working Network Projects, responding to outages, answering calls, working remedy Tickets, troubleshooting network issues with Network and VOIP. 
• Utilize tools such as Prime, Splunk, Remote desktop, wire shark and Netcool. 
• Must have a solid working knowledge of Firewalls, VPN’s, Cisco Network, Wireless infrastructure, and Circuit troubleshooting. Linux Server experience is desirable for Netcool/ Tivoli support activities. 
• Candidate will help ensure service level agreements are met while providing courteous support for our customers. 
• Prior telecom and Cisco network experience required. 
• Service desk and desktop support experience is a plus.   

Requirements

 

Clearance: Active Secret 

Certifications: 8570/ 8740 IAT III certification ( CISSP, CASP etc.) CCNP 

Required Travel: 15%

Bilingual- English/ German   

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or Technical Training (Computer Science or a related field) recommended. Minimum of 8 years Network experience interacting with users to identify requirements and resolve network problems. 

• Experience working cooperatively and communicating effectively with management and colleagues. 
• Demonstrated record of delivering quality customer service and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing. 
• Motivated self-starter.
• Knowledge of structured wiring systems and standards. 
• Knowledge of network technologies such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, and Wireless LAN protocols. 
• Experience working with network firewalls, and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Linux Servers, Wireless and VoIP technologies. 
• A good knowledge of industry trends and hardware and software.
