Context & Environment
The Nodal Markets & Quantitative Analysis Senior Manager provides critical insights on nodal market dynamics to optimize investment decisions, support long‑term portfolio management, and enable Corporate PPA teams. As a manager, this role organizes and coordinates the activity of the team. As a leader, the role presents the team’s results to senior management. This position is able to sit at our Houston, TX headquarters or our Berkeley, CA office.
Accountabilities
The Nodal Markets & Quantitative Analysis Senior Manager gathers knowledge from across the organization as well as external sources to deliver nodal price forecasts to senior management. Once validated, these forecasts serve as a key input into the Company’s investment decision‑making processes.
Activities
Key Responsibilities
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams in the U.S. and at Headquarters, including fundamental market analysis, R&D teams, IT & Digital country experts, trading, portfolio management, and regulatory teams, to align market analysis and modeling activities with overall business objectives.
- Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Become an internal reference on local nodal market dynamics.
Market, Asset & Benchmark Analysis
- Conduct in‑depth analysis of U.S. power markets, including supply, demand, transmission dynamics, price trends, regulatory changes, and technology costs.
- Perform asset analysis and benchmark internal and external scenarios, with the ability to clearly explain differences.
- Ensure models are updated to reflect multiple scenarios.
Data Collection & Management
- Collect and organize relevant data from various sources, including market reports, databases, and internal systems.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Develop robust methodologies for data analysis and interpretation.
Model Development & Digital Tools
- Act as the business leader in the development of accurate models and algorithms to forecast long‑term nodal power markets.
