Looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity? Join our team as a Part-time Equipment Transporter! In this role, you'll be responsible for safely transporting equipment to various locations as needed while supporting daily operations through other assigned duties. This position works under general supervision, follows established procedures, and receives assignments from multiple staff members. Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or successful completion of GED.
  • Three (3) years’ experience as a CDL driver.
  • Requires knowledge of various types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Requires ability to read a map and follow directions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
  • Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B at hire and must obtain the VA CDL Class A within 180 days of employment.   
  • State of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A upon hire is preferred.
  • This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
  • Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
The incumbent is considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
