Banner Thunderbird Medical Center has served the Northwest Valley for more than 25 years and our unrelenting focus on excellent patient care has helped us become one of the most preferred hospitals in the Valley. In addition to being a Level 1 Trauma Center, the facility also includes a heart and vascular center, state-of-the-art surgical suites, and a new Emergency department.
In your role as a Certified Patient Care Assistant at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center Trauma Neuro ICU, you will help provide basic nursing assistance to ICU patient, and they may float to PCU. Our Trauma Neuro ICU strives for excellence in this fast-paced, dynamic setting. We are looking for a Patient Care Assistants to join our dedicated, multidisciplinary team. Some key responsibilities include preparing patients for their procedures, such as, vital monitoring, safety checks, EKG monitoring and assisting with hygienic tasks. This position will also require transporting patients during admissions and discharges along with handling patient information. You will be able to build and utilize your communication and time management skills by carrying out items in collaboration with the clinical and the support team. The entire department is 60 beds, with 20 in CVICU (2W), Neuro (2E) and Trauma (3E). At night we have 2 PCAs who split the department. Patients range in acuity from intubated sedated and immobile to ambulating and using the call light. There are currently 3 other PCAs in critical care at night.
- Full-Time Night Shift Available (FT 3-12 hour shift)
- Shift Hours can be from (Nights) 6pm-6:30am
- You can utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage.There are no set days you can be scheduled each week
- You can know your shift a month in advance generally.
- Varied Shifts = could be working days nights, weekends
- Weekend Rotations are required in this role. 2 Weekend shifts required each month
- Rotating Holidays Required - 1 major and 1 minor
- Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-Night Shift differential when applicable
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.
3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promote
