Summary:
The Level IV Engineer (Project Engineer) will be an active participant in the design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, integration, start-up, and commissioning of very large-scale automated aerospace assembly systems. The Project Engineer will take a leadership role while working with other engineers to concept, develop and design conventional and automated tooling systems and customized machine tools for the aerospace industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the completion of long-term engineering projects.
• Perform engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints.
• Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Must lead by example and be capable of managing designers, stress analysis, offload design and offload fabrication.
• In response to a customer’s specification the Project Engineer will, with other designers, collate concept models to define a detailed plan of system, process & sequence of operations for bid proposals.
• Define, organize, and prioritize project goals.
• Provide leadership to meet design schedules.
• Work with the marketing group for new design considerations.
• Provide support for new product introduction to manufacturing.
• Occasional domestic or foreign travel to customer sites may be required.
• Possess required experience, skills and attributes for assigned level in engineering, technology, (software) tools, and personal & leadership on the Engineering Skills Matrix.
a. Engineering – In training for advanced analysis; trained but needs support in stress; can work autonomously in concept, design, drawings, and technical publications.
b. Technologies – In training for Heating; trained but needs support in controls; can work autonomously in jigs & tools, platforms, machine design, integration,n and operations.
c. Software Tools – Can work autonomously in CATIA and GURU.
d. Personal & leadership – Can work autonomously in ability to lead, customer interface, process based thinking, requirements management, and scheduling & estimation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Minimum eight years prior work experience in one or more of the following: Heavy Machine Design, Structural Design Aerospace Tooling Assembly Systems and Automation.
• Manufacturing and machine shop background or relevant experience preferred.
• CAD Software Knowledge:
◦ CATIA V5, NX or Equivalent software knowledge (Solidworks, Pro E, etc.)
◦ Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (Ansys or Femap is preferred)
• Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a Secret security clearance.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements:
• This position may require a government security clearance.
