Department Overview

The Wildfire & Emergency Operations organization is responsible for assisting the company to act decisively and transparently to prevent fires of consequence from being caused by our equipment.  The organization will develop objectives to 1) prevent fires of consequence originating from our equipment; 2) meet all commitments outlined in our Wildfire Mitigation Plan; 3) continue to foster trusted relationships with key stakeholders; and 4) develop consistent processes and work standards through the implementation of the Lean Operating System for sustainable operations.

 

Position Summary

Act as the primary contact for public safety information in relation to specialized electric or gas emergency response training and exercise support for external stakeholders including law enforcement, fire, public works agencies, contractors and utilities and other specialized groups within PG&E’s service territory. Contribute to the department goal of being an active and participative stakeholder supporting Public Safety Power Shutdowns, wildland fire mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery of our communities from wildland fires and catastrophic incidents, while striving to build credibility, trust and a positive company image with public agencies, LOBs and other stakeholders.

  • This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within Kern, Tulare and San Bernardino counties. 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

The hourly rate for this position ranges from:


California Minimum: $46.63
California Maximum: $74.04

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 
 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Facilitates exercise development and execution with the public safety agencies with a focus on providing training and improving knowledge and fostering a robust response relationships
  • Serves as an agency representative to public safety agencies during emergencies and provide the PG&E Incident Commander with advice and guidance as needed during response. Helps coordinate PG&E emergency response in the affected area.
  • Identifies and provides input to and/or develops strategies to mitigate public safety issues, such as evacuations, vegetation management, etc. Collaborates with and influences public agency actions during emergencies to ensure our assets/equipment in the field are protected.
  • Collaborates with agencies on post event/incident response debrief. Works on proactive development of joint emergency response plans and includes those plans in training exercises.
  • Coordinates public safety activities and follow-up items with other lines of business including corporate communications, governmental relations, energy solutions and sales, and gas and electric operations.
  • Provides public safety communication, education training and/ or materials that enhance public safety, civic and emergency agencies/organizations, contractors, and other utilities. Solicits feedback from public agencies regarding PG&E emergency response time, quality, etc. Incorporates feedback into process and program improvement recommendations presented to Manager.
  • Provides support to regions, divisions and headquarters during emergencies. 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • 6 years total related experience, including 5 years conducting training to diverse audience 
  • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100-700 courses
