THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (Santander CIB) is looking for an Accounting Team Lead based in Boadilla del Monte (Madrid).

In this role, you will lead the Pre-Accounting – Markets – Securities team providing coverage to the London and New York branches, performing the core accounting control function for P&L and balance sheet related to securities products. The role combines team leadership with a high level of technical expertise to support the team in the most complex tasks, ensure robust execution of the processes assigned to the area, and maintain effective coordination with the key stakeholders involved.

  • Team leadership: organization and prioritization of work, coverage and business continuity planning, monitoring execution, and team development/training, fostering a strong control and quality culture.
  • Expert accounting control of securities products: oversight of reconciliation analysis, support in the resolution of complex issues, and definition of root causes and action plans.
  • Accounting close oversight: coordination of daily/monthly controls, adherence to deadlines, and assurance of high-quality control evidence and documentation.
  • Cross-functional coordination: alignment and collaboration with IT, Business, Finance, Market Risk, and Operations for issue resolution, change management, and process improvement.
  • Continuous improvement: identification of recurring issues, definition and implementation of controls, process standardization, and automation initiatives.
  •  Project involvement: requirements gathering, coordination and execution of UAT (definition of test cases, evidence, and sign-off), tracking deliverables, and coordination with stakeholders.

Professional Experience

  • 8 years of experience in accounting and accounting control of securities products (bonds, repos, securities lending, equities, and collateral). (Required)
  • Proven experience as a Team Lead (functional leadership and/or people management) in demanding, deadline-driven environments. (Required)
  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills across multiple areas (IT, Business, Finance, Risk, and Operations). (Required)
  • Hands-on knowledge of Markets and accounting systems, in particular: Calypso STC, ACyG, and Murex. (Required)

Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, Auditing, Accounting (Required)

Languages

  • English B2 (Required)
