The Maintenance Technician supports the Facility Management team in performing the overall maintenance, inspections and repair of Industrial Scientific facilities and equipment systems.

All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies and goals of the company enabling Industrial Scientific to achieve its vision, mission, and business objectives.

Responsibilities: 

The duties and responsibilities are wide-ranging and include areas such as basic mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and general building trade skills. Other duties may be assigned as equipment and systems are updated or added.

  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems and & repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot building and equipment related issues and implements solutions.
  • Possess experience with repair failures of production and facilities equipment.
  • Ensures maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness, reducing cost whenever possible.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions with attention to details.
  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance and repair service requests, inspections, and adjustments as assigned; enhance service levels in all areas of responsibility.
  • Obtains the necessary materials and/or supplies to complete assigned work orders.
  • Participates in plant safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Assures safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines.
  • Maintains a professional, courteous manner with fellow employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Clean Kitchen biweekly, additional deep cleaning as needed to maintain Health Department Standards.
  • Clean and maintain designated building areas (carpets, floors, dusting, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning carpet cleaning etc.) 

 

Qualifications:

Required

  • One or more years of experience in the building trades and facility maintenance
  • Skilled in the use and care of hand tools, gauges, DVM multi-meter, power tools, and other related equipment
  • Ability to recognize and report safety hazards involved in the work area, and to take precautionary methods to protect self and others.
  • Ability to be reached by cell phone during off hours.
  • Willingness to periodically work after hours and on weekends for emergencies or other routine work to minimize disruption to normal business functions.
  • Proven self-starter, working with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to walk the building to identify and correct any problems found.
  • Ability to access and monitor the security cameras, Change access levels for employees.
  • Ability to create, comment and close Jira tickets.  
  • Ability to train others on the Building Automation System (BAS) 

 

Preferred

  • Technical school degree  
  • Skilled in various building trades; electrical, plumbing, technical, mechanical knowledge, painting, drywall repairs, lamp/ballast replacement, and some knowledge of HVAC
  • Working knowledge and/or expertise in the use of building automation systems
  • Prior experience in the use of work order systems and generating/closing work tickets.
  • A strong background and prior experience in facilities maintenance and repair
  • Ability to read and interpret building drawings, documents, and follow electrical diagrams.
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication.
  • The ability to use cleaning tools and Equipment
  • The ability to perform heavy cleaning
