Team:
ServiceNow is the pioneer and one of the biggest users of MariaDB in the World. The Data Platform team supports the pushing and pulling of data, creating complex queries and providing an efficient way of accessing and managing data. This team is solving complex problems for persistence and performance, working on a product that has millions of users and a massive amount of data.

If you enjoy solving complex database issues and working with large data sets, this would be an opportunity for you. We are utilizing Java, JavaScript, MariaDB, Postgres, and our own home-grown object-relational mapping solution to support all the data that comes through platform. This position offers autonomy and support without micromanaging and provides a collaborative environment that values initiative. You’ll get to solve difficult problems and work with really smart people that love databases.

What you'll do and need to know:

• What Experience in coding in Java, object-oriented and modularized software.
• Demonstrated success completing complex projects.
• Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies quickly.

Nice to have:

• Expertise in writing Java code and working knowledge of JavaScript but strong candidates with experience in other OO languages will be considered
• Expertise in unit and integration test automation
• Deep database internals knowledge
• Technical leadership skills (requirements gathering, mentoring, project ownership)
• Understanding of monolithic Java application

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with Java or similar OO language  
• Experience with Core Java development 
• Expert level understanding of best practices for object-oriented and modularized software. Emphasis on Java 
• Experience with relational databases: Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, and/or PostgreSQL  
• Strong understanding of SQL and query development  
• Familiarity with Unix shell 

For positions in California (outside of the Bay Area), we offer a base pay of $166,230 - $290,970, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
