About the role

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience managing programs and processes across distributed systems.
  • Experience with creating and implementing external communications plans, including crisis communication management, utilizing modern communication strategies.
  • Experience in organizing community engagement events with internal cross-functional teams and nonprofits.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical related field.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in building trust with local municipalities, non-profit decision makers, and community members.
  • Experience problem-solving across distributed, fast-paced, and constantly changing environments.
  • Understanding of research methodologies, including experience in developing and sharing strategic recommendations from a broad range of data sources (e.g., survey data, social intelligence, qualitative research, online telemetry, business metrics).

As Google's products and services grow to serve our billions of users, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future. It's a big job that involves everything from operating underwater cables to finding data center space. In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership.

As our products and services scale the globe, the Data Center Energy and Location Strategy (ELS) team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure to strengthen Google's future. As part of the Data Center ELS team, the Economic and Community Development team is an organization responsible for analyzing and mitigating economic, community and policy risks, to deliver an optimized inventory of assets meeting the operating needs of the business, and to ensure and maintain our license to operate in our markets. We provide the strategy, structure, and tool sets on economic, community, and policy issues for our regional site selection teams to make quality decisions at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$207,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
