Scientist field of heterogeneous catalysis/ammonia synthesis with opportunity to obtain a doctorate
Fraunhofer-GesellschaftAbout the role
What you will do
As part of an interdisciplinary research project on the use of ammonia as an energy vector in a future circular and climate-neutral economy, you will carry out research and development work on catalytic ammonia synthesis in a chemical laboratory at our site in Straubing. In this research project, several Fraunhofer Institutes are working collaboratively on technical concepts for the use of ammonia for the storage and transportation of renewably produced hydrogen. In this context, your tasks have an application-oriented research focus and include the synthesis of new catalysts and their characterization/testing in the synthesis of ammonia, the implementation of microkinetic studies and their scientific evaluation. The scope and depth of the work is planned as a dissertation project. Accordingly, emphasis is placed on the scientific exploitation of the research results in the form of peer-reviewed articles and conference contributions.
What you bring to the table
- Very successfully completed studies of chemistry, chemical engineering or process engineering
- Strong interest in scientific tasks in the field of Technical Chemistry, in Power-to-X technologies and catalytic processes and in the application of such processes in a microkinetic laboratory reactor.
- Enthusiasm for working with technically complex reactors and for solving technical problems in the daily lab routine
- Ability to work independently on scientific tasks and to develop new ideas to approach scientific problems
- You are a flexible team player, show commitment and have a confident and friendly manner
- You like to take responsibility - for yourself and your actions
This call is addressing candidates who are seriously interested in obtaining a doctorate degree. Willingness and high motivation to write a doctoral thesis are expected.
