About the role

Job Overview:

The JLV Amazon Single Point Delivery Team (SPDT) Senior Project Engineer (Sr. PE) is an experienced project engineering professional who is responsible for applying their existing knowledge in Marine Operations and Pipeline Installation to serve as a Pipelay Lead for JLV Amazon bids and projects. The Sr. PE functionally reports to the JLV Amazon Marine Operations Manager, but works within project and bid teams as assigned. The Sr. PE interfaces with the Project Installation Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Project Engineering Managers and other discipline leads to drive continual improvement through the implementation of Lessons Learned and ensure that the pipelay scope is planned and executed in alignment with the JLV Amazon’s capabilities and limitations.

This role is an office-based position, however periodic on-site field support (Construction/ Supplier/ Mobilization sites and onboard JLV Amazon) is required to properly execute the job duties.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • The Sr. PE shall have a well-rounded and deep understanding of offshore pipelay and pipe production operations (Welding, NDT, Field Joint Coating), installation analysis, subsea structure designs, rigging practices, and the demonstrated project engineering capability to serve as a scope lead for a smaller team of approximately 2-5 other Project Engineers
  • The individual shall be comfortable with guiding and teaching junior engineers and have experience in coordinating and guiding the works of others to deliver the project scope on time and under budget
  • The Sr. PE shall be able to operate independently with minimal guidance from the SPDT Marine Operations Director on a day-to-day basis but will maintain regular communications and collaboration to align schedule and execution methodology
  • The Sr. PE is responsible for overall readiness and execution of the scope assigned, ensure that all Lessons Learned are implemented on the bid/project as applicable, shall understand and be accountable for delegated scope budgets, provide inputs into the schedule and maintain overall execution awareness, and ensure the offshore performance targets are achieved
  • The Sr. PE is expected to be a Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (QHSES) Leader for the JLV Amazon team and reinforce this mindset for the scope execution across all team members
  • Coordinate and review inputs from the various Engineering disciplines, functional departments, and sub-contractors contributing to the Engineering portion of a project
  • Coordinate and ensure the generation of deliverables, reports, and procedures required
  • Support management of the Engineering portion of the project as directed  
  • Use expertise and project experience to solve complex problems by identifying innovative solutions  
  • Manage time to meet objectives; forecast and plan resource requirements  
  • Assist the Project Engineering Manager in planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling small projects by establishing policies, procedures, systems, and requirements
  • Act as a liaison between the Customer and Project Engineering Manager and Engineering Team, including third-party agencies and subcontractors
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of the Engineering Project Execution Plan (PEP)
  • Assist in the preparation of the work-sharing Interface Plan & Scope Split Matrix
  • Ensure all scopes of work are addressed, handover points are understood and agreed upon, and that there are no scope gaps or overlaps between the work-sharing offices and any subcontractors
  • Review the Project Plan along with the project planner and prepare subcontract scope packages for any work that is required to be subcontracted
  • Attend Engineering Project Readiness reviews as needed  
  • Coordinate and become familiar with all inputs and changes to the Engineering Project Plan, the scope of work, drawings, and specifications
  • Facilitate logging and evaluating impacts of changes in the Desk Top Change Management System (DTCMS)
  • Review any scope of work documents produced by the respective functional departments and identify changes impacting Engineering, update the Engineering Scope of Work documents as required/agreed, and assist in the preparation of change orders
  • Coordinate information between Engineering and other functions (such as Fabrication, Marine, etc.) to ensure timely receipt and delivery of necessary design inputs
  • Ensure that registers of all documents received by Engineering as well as sent are maintained and updated by Document Control, inclusive of timely distribution to all concerned personnel, departments, other entities, and subcontractor(s) as necessary
