NOTE: This role is contingent on the contract being awarded. Position Summary: Synergy is seeking a Sr. System Administrator to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at the Aviation Logistics Center (ALC)—Information Systems Division (ISD). The Senior System Administrator manages the day-to-day performance, security, and availability of hybrid enterprise systems supporting aviation logistics, maintenance, and readiness. The Sr. System Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining the secure and optimal performance of Windows, Linux (RHEL), and virtualized environments. This role includes monitoring and remediation of vulnerabilities, configuration management, incident resolution, and supporting continuous operations within a DevSecOps environment. Primary Responsibilities:- Oversee configuration, operation, and optimization of Windows, RHEL, and virtualized systems (VMware/Hyper-V/Kubernetes) across staging, development, and production environments.
- Lead security remediation efforts in accordance with Tenable scan results, STIG, NIST 800-53, and DHS 4300A requirements.
- Implement and maintain secure system configurations, including firewalls, SELinux, SSH hardening, and multi-factor authentication.
- Design and manage virtualization platforms, ensuring resource efficiency, scalability, and high availability.
- Administer and support web applications deployed on IIS and Apache servers, ensuring optimal configuration, performance, and security.
- Automate routine administration tasks using scripting tools (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) and enforce standardized system builds via configuration management tools.
- Collaborate in Agile DevSecOps environments using Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Kubernetes to support cross-functional delivery and change management.
- Conduct system capacity analysis, performance tuning, and preventive maintenance for sustained uptime.
- Develop and maintain detailed system documentation, including configurations, change management logs, SOPs, and architecture diagrams.
- Provide Tier III escalation support, troubleshoot complex system issues, and coordinate with cybersecurity, development, and engineering teams to resolve incidents.
