A Glimpse of the Job
The Financial Accountant III is responsible for performing advanced professional accounting tasks at a university level within the Division of Finance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
ADVANCED RESEARCH
Perform advanced assignments and serve as a resource to recognize, investigate, and resolve outstanding items through entries, meetings, correspondence, identifying corrections, and follow-up. Work with other reconcilers to resolve issues. Assist in and recommend policies and procedures.
BANK RECONCILIATIONS
Analyze and prepare high-volume account reconciliations for TAMU, TAMUQ, TAMUG, TAMUS, TAMHSC, TAMSSC, and TDEM.
WIRE TRANSFERS AND CHECK COPIES
Process outgoing wire transfers once a week. Provides verification and check copies for all departments throughout the TAMU campus as assigned.
ACH REPORTS AND ACH AND WIRE TRANSFER INFORMATION
Process ACH Reports and Incoming Wires once a week. Provide ACH and Wire Transfer information via encrypted email to vendors as assigned.
POSITIVE PAY AND FRAUD FILTER
Act as backup to research and make timely decisions on Positive Pay and Fraud Filter items to mitigate fraud losses.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of accounting experience in a business office.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education and banking (processing wire transfers, reconciling high volume bank accounts, check ordering, experience with ACH Fraud Filter and Positive Pay issues).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including formatting, data manipulation, and formula use.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations in a complex environment.
Skilled at multi-tasking and working collaboratively with others.
Knowledge and understanding of the higher education business environment.
Other Requirements and Factors:
This position is security sensitive.
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
