GDIT's Military Health team is hiring a Biomedical Research Associate in support of the 59th Medical Wing (59 MDW) located at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. This position will be performing translational combat trauma research procedures in areas such as resuscitation and hemorrhage control.
The 59th Medical Wing Science and Technology (ST) office advises and conducts clinical and translational research on matters pertaining to the medical aspects of the Air Expeditionary Force and the health of Air Force (AF) personnel and beneficiaries. In order to support the required research, ST offices conduct translational research in the areas of emergency medical care, combat casualty care, force health protection, restorative medicine, clinical and rehabilitative medicine and specialty centers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with administrative tasks, including preparation and revision of contracts, IACUC and IRB protocols, proposals, manuscripts, report and presentation editing and review.
- Ability to coordinate the implementation of clinical research studies, including regulatory requirements, maintenance of study records and all activities associated with internal and external audits.
- Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies.
- Aid in drafting contracts for equipment and services.
- Initiate and maintain regulatory IACUC/IRB requirements.
- Modify and plan research experiment schedules, procedures, and tests.
- Ability to research and collect data through complex laboratory/scientific experiments, techniques, and procedures, library research, or through other means for research projects.
- Assist with preparation for presentations and written published articles.
- Writes and edits material for publication and presentation.
- Reports on status of research activities.
- Oversees and instructs research and support staff on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance.
- Schedules and coordinates research activities.
- May assist with surgical procedures, as needed.
Minimum Qualification and Experience:
- B.S. in Biological Sciences; Masters preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant animal research experience including assisting with surgical procedures (swine preferably).
- Proven expertise in working with biological specimens and animal tissue.
- Operational knowledge of advanced lab equipment.
- Working knowledge of computing equipment to include physiological data acquisition and analysis.
- Intermediate+ experience with Microsoft Office applications including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

The likely salary range for this position is $45,698 - $61,525. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Scheduled Weekly Hours:
