We are seeking our next Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Reasoning Education. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Reasoning Education will oversee administration and integration of the evidence-based veterinary medicine (EBVM) educational courses (years 1-3) in the DVM program, working closely with the Offices of Educational Strategy and Student Success.  This position will instruct in clinical reasoning and evidence-based veterinary medicine and ensure alignment of instructional methods and assessments with DVM outcomes in clinical reasoning and evidence-based veterinary medicine.  

Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Reasoning Education- Clinical Track

  • 30%-Participate in Phase 1 and/or Phase 2 teaching and learning opportunities.  Collaborate on research projects with other investigators as available.  Participate in local and/or national committees within the specialty college, as applicable.
  • 30%-Instruct in clinical reasoning (large and small group).
  • 25%-Oversee administration of the veterinary evidence-based veterinary medicine (EBVM) curriculum in the DVM program.
  • 10%-Train other faculty in instruction and evaluation of clinical reasoning.
  • 5%-Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Professor: DVM degree or equivalent
Associate Professor: DVM degree or equivalent with five years of experience

Preferred Qualifications (ALL LEVELS):

  • DVM degree or equivalent with 5 yrs. of experience and teaching clinical reasoning and/or evidence-based veterinary medicine in pre-clinical and clinical DVM curriculum.
  • Be eligible to sit for board exam in a veterinary clinical specialty.

Special or Physical Qualifications (ALL LEVELS):

 May be required to come in after hours, on weekends or holidays. Availability to work 8-10 hour shifts. 

Required to be capable of lifting more than 50 pounds, standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods, able to reach above and below the shoulder, vision (far sight), vision (near sight), kneel or sit on the floor, bending, climbing, push/ pulling, grasping, squatting, and/or twisting.  Maneuver/lift equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds​.

FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
