Description of Work

At O’Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center, the Staff Development Specialist I primarily facilitates and administers educational programs. This critical role assesses departmental learning needs, plans targeted curriculum, and conducts instructor-led training to ensure compliance with healthcare standards. This position operates under the umbrella of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) to support both direct care and operational staff.

Responsibilities Include:
• Needs Assessment: Identify organizational knowledge gaps and
determining the required training objectives.
• Curriculum Development: Assist in the design of training materials,
manuals, and instructional procedures.
• Instruction: Deliver in person, on-the-job, and specialized training.
• Administration: Manage administrative duties within the Learning
Management System (LMS), including documenting training, maintaining
records, and evaluating progress to ensure full state compliance.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade Range: $47,703 - $83,479

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in assessing training needs, developing objectives, recommending training goals, and evaluating educational outcomes in adult learning environments.

  • Considerable knowledge of capabilities and uses of audiovisual aids and other training tools and resources (i.e. Canva, graphic design software, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrated skill in developing lesson plans, course outlines electronically and creating presentations to adult audiences.

  • Demonstrated skill in assessing, planning, executing, evaluating, and adapting training to meet organizational needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships.

Workday Schedule: Monday - Friday / 8:00am-5:00pm.
