Job Summary
This is an open and broad search intended to attract a highly qualified pool of candidates. While areas of emphasis are listed below, applicants with expertise in related, emerging, or interdisciplinary areas of civil and environmental engineering are strongly encouraged to apply. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Areas of emphasis for these positions include the following:
Geotechnical Engineering (CEE-01): Expertise in geotechnical engineering, with preferred areas of expertise including foundation engineering, environmental geotechnics, soil–structure interaction, geohazard mitigation, sustainable geomaterials, and advanced in-situ and remote geotechnical site characterization.
Environmental Engineering (CEE-02): Expertise in environmental engineering, with preferred areas including wastewater treatment and reuse, nutrient and resource recovery, environmental biotechnology, and water quality monitoring and modeling using sensors, digital twins, and AI/ML for process optimization. Broader expertise in environmental systems, emerging contaminants, sustainability, and climate-resilient water infrastructure is also encouraged.
Infrastructure and Community Resilience (CEE-03): Expertise in civil engineering with preferred areas of expertise including infrastructure resilience, sustainable development, sustainable water management, disaster risk reduction, and resilient urban and coastal systems under changing environmental conditions. Applicants with expertise in related areas such as transportation systems, structural engineering, water resources engineering, environmental systems, and emerging smart city and data-driven infrastructure technologies are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Teaching: Teaches undergraduate and/or graduate civil and environmental engineering courses aligned with departmental needs, including advanced courses related to area of expertise.
- Scholarship and Professional Development:
- Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor: Establishes and maintains a program of externally peer-reviewed scholarship and/or creative activity appropriate to rank.
- Instructor I/Instructor II/Instructor III: Demonstrates significant ongoing professional development and/or instructional scholarship activities appropriate to rank.
- Service: Performs service within the university and the professional community.
- Plans and teaches assigned courses.
- Prepares syllabi, instruction materials, coordinates lectures, tests, and evaluates student work.
- Maintains highest possible standards of classroom instruction.
- Keeps abreast of new information and developments in field of instruction.
- Assists with the development of curriculum.
- Maintains professional skills through regular professional development, and other activities appropriate to higher education faculty.
- Actively serves on university committees.
- Actively participates in institutional meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Must work closely with the Department Chair and other faculty on assessment and evaluation tasks necessary for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accreditation.
- The ability to work with and mentor student organizations, clubs, and competition teams.

Required Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field of Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.
