About the Role

THE POSITION
Wellington (WMC) currently manages $524 billion in fixed income assets on behalf of our clients worldwide. The Leveraged Credit team manages approximately $37 billion in assets across its book of business, with a focus on high yield bonds (Global and US), CLO collateral management, and related leveraged credit strategies.

Within our Leveraged Credit team, we are seeking an experienced Fixed Income Portfolio Manager (CLO) to take on portfolio management responsibilities for our CLO platform, including oversight of CLO collateral pools and related leveraged credit allocations. The role is focused on managing and optimizing CLO portfolios through disciplined credit selection, portfolio construction, and ongoing risk management, in close coordination with credit research, trading, and risk teams. The portfolio manager will work within the broader Leveraged Credit team to help drive the continued growth and evolution of the CLO platform, serving as a thought partner to the team and as an externally facing representative with clients, investors, and other stakeholders. The role is supported by Wellington’s broader Fixed Income platform, including credit research analysts, risk managers, traders, product managers, and other members of the CLO management team.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess strong credit and quantitative portfolio management skills, with deep experience in CLO collateral management. The Portfolio Manager will have at least 10 years of demonstrated success in an investment role, with a proven track record managing CLOs and investing across leveraged credit markets in support of CLO portfolios.

Additional qualifications for the position are the following:
•    Ability to make CLO portfolio and collateral decisions supported by rigorous credit and structural analysis, communicated with clarity and conviction;
•    Established track record managing CLO collateral pools, including portfolio construction, trading, compliance, and optimization across market cycles;
•    Ability to dynamically assess and manage volatile or distressed credits within a CLO framework; risk management experience is a plus;
•    Proven interpersonal skills and experience in a collaborative, team-based, results-oriented environment;
•    Humility and a strong desire to learn from and with other investors;
•    Strong presentation skills, including the ability to communicate CLO strategy, performance, and positioning to clients, investors, and colleagues;
•    Strong quantitative skills and willingness to embrace technology and analytics in CLO portfolio management;
•    Ability and willingness to travel;
•    Commercial and growth mindset, experience supporting the development and expansion of CLO platforms; and
•    Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record; MBA and/or CFA preferred.

LOCATION
The Portfolio Manager will ideally be based in Wellington’s Global Headquarters in Boston, MA. For select candidates, location in Wellington’s New York office will also be considered.
