Insurance Specialty Group, a subsidiary of NFP, is hiring a Vice President - Director of Risk Management & Loss Control. ISG is a leading national insurance program manager focused on the placement of residential construction insurance products. The company currently offers general liability and builders risk insurance with a strong focus on risk management and loss control to help control frequency and severity of claims. ISG has a need to elevate our risk management and loss control efforts with a dedicated resource focused the essential duties and responsibilities shown within this job description.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review, analyze and enhance ISG’s current risk management and loss control approach through an on-going process that includes the following:

QA/QC, Loss Control & Site Safety Vendor Management:
• Oversee vendor services, including quality of staffing, quality of inspections, deficient item documentation, handling of open items, etc.
• Establish a current baseline of the quality for each current vendor. Work to appoint new vendors as needed, including establishing a process by which information is exchanged efficiently for newly formed and existing relationships.
• Meet with all vendors annually (at a minimum) to discuss operational items and trends that are being seen related to materials quality, labor quality, safety concerns, etc.
• Maintain ISG’s QA/QC manual and vendor requirement documentation.
• Develop a plan with vendors to help track that all units / buildings within a project are in fact inspected during the peer review process.
• Work with vendors to improve reporting to ISG, inclusive of reviewing and improving report format for approved QA/QC and site safety report vendors.

Coordination of the Claims & Risk Management / Loss Control Process:
• Project Work: Review existing large losses against the peer review performed on the project (if applicable) to determine:
         o What caused the loss?
         o Should the cause have been discovered during the peer review inspections?
         o Would additional underwriting on the construction type or additional peer review services have prevented the loss?
• Review future Major Loss Notices to understand cause of loss and if peer review services were performed appropriately.
• Liaison between the claims adjusting team and peer review vendors to share pertinent information on what services were performed and what information can be shared to help mitigate claims costs.

Resource for ISG Underwriting Team:
• Project Work: Review a significant amount of prior policy files to determine and document:
         o High-level construction type, # of units, # of buildings, # of stories, QA/QC Requirements, QA/QC vendor & QA/QC saturation rate. Document via excel and help                        analyze results.
• Work with underwriters to review new business opportunities, including projects with complex construction styles, to help determine if unique inspections should be added to the scope of required QA/QC work.
• Assist underwriting with continual reviews of QA/QC reports related to on-going projects to help assess open items and closure plans.
• Travel to key / large jobsites to walk sites with vendors and perform in-house reviews of work. This will have a focus on larger multi-family sites with infrequent visits.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Not currently contemplated

Travel: This position will require travel to ISG’s Atlanta office and to ISG construction sites throughout the year. Travel is anticipated to be 1 time per month. Travel would include GA, FL
