Summary
The Supervisor, Defense & Aerospace oversees the end-to-end coordination of import and export operations for high-stakes defense and aerospace shipments. This leadership role ensures compliance with complex regulatory requirements, manages a team of freight forwarders, and drives efficient, secure, and compliant shipping solutions. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong regulatory knowledge, a customer-focused mindset, and experience in logistics management within defense and aerospace industries.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Freight Forwarders specializing in defense and aerospace logistics, ensuring they adhere to company protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the planning and coordination of shipments, ensuring compliance with ITAR, EAR, and other defense-specific import and export control regulations.
- Monitor shipment progress and team performance, proactively addressing any logistical issues, delays, or compliance concerns.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for escalated issues from clients in the defense and aerospace sectors, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
- Enforce policies and procedures to ensure efficient and secure handling of high-value, regulated shipments.
- Collaborate with management to establish performance goals for the freight forwarding team and track progress toward these objectives.
- Provide ongoing training and development for team members on industry-specific requirements, regulatory updates, and best practices in export logistics.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure team adherence to all relevant laws and standards, particularly those impacting defense and aerospace shipments.
- Prepare reports on team performance, shipment status, and compliance metrics for review by senior management.
