Data Analysis and Communications Assistant

Overview
The Janet Quinney Lawson Institute for Land, Water, and Air (ILWA) is seeking a qualified applicant to work as a data analysis and communications assistant for projects undertaken by the institute. This position will be part-time (10-15 hours per week.) ILWA has been tasked by the state of Utah legislature and external funders to complete various analyses on natural resources vital to the state. The assistant will be required to collect and analyze data and write reports on various aspects of research projects.
This position is telework eligible within the state of Utah.
Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze, and review data.
- Write reports for audiences such as other students, faculty, media, government policy makers, and the general public.
- Assist with projects for the institute as directed.
- Collaborate with other researchers, staff, students, and USU faculty.
- Develop and administer surveys.
- Conduct interviews and collect site-specific data for natural resources.
- Contribute to the institute’s social media posts, the website, and publications for the institute.
- Other jobs and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
- Current graduate student at USU.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to collect and analyze data.
- Ability to conduct and manage research projects.
- Experience with overseeing student researchers and assisting undergraduate students.
- Ability to work with others on a team.
- Effective problem solving skills.
- Good time management skills and dependability for completing tasks with hard deadlines.
- Presentation skills for events such as summits, research symposiums, or poster presentations.

Advertised Salary
$17.00 per hourADA
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
