Position Overview

Interns will be educated, trained, and exposed to the day-to-day functions of the aggregate or asphalt operations of the Company under the close direction of an experienced supervisor/manager and/or mentor. Work assignments and on-the-job experience will be relevant to the Intern’s course of study or technical skill.

 

Electrical Department: This may include electrical work on motor control centers, three phase motors, programmable logic centers, troubleshooting, running conduit wire, and maintaining records.

Maintenance Department: This may include performing routine maintenance on plant equipment like conveyor belts, scrapers, skirt boards, idlers, pulleys, guards, bearings, crushers, and screen.

Mobile Equipment Department: This may include diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and fueling fleet of mobile equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Functions

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.

  • Wear a hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection and respirator as needed and comply with all safety, health, environmental & training policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Shadow experienced operations employees in the Department to observe and study techniques, traits, and methods to understand procedures and standards.
  • Perform workplace inspection and risk assessments. 
  • Any additional tasks as requested by manager or mentor.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

 

Education

  • High School or GED
  • Successful completion of MSHA/OSHA Training (to be provided upon hire)
  • Task training on an as needed basis (to be provided upon hire)

 

Requirements

  • Over 18 years of age.
  • Mechanically skilled.
  • Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform all duties without a direct threat of injury to the individual or others.
  • Demonstrate safe, productive job performance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and work well with other personnel.
  • Ability to read English.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
