Job Summary

Perform work assignments related to providing safe, reliable and economical service to those residential single phase secondary customers requiring new or modified service installations.
Key Accountabilities
- 40% Performs various inspections of overhead/underground construction for compliance to company standards
- 20% Issue overhead and/or underground service orders.
- 15 % Advise customers and contractors of company standards relating to new and/or upgraded service requirements for secondary.
- 15% Provide field information for estimates, schedules and post construction costs using company provided systems.
- 10% Act as representative to internal/external customers on construction methods. NEW PROGRAMS This job has a role in building consensus or support for the implementation of new programs, initiatives or solutions. This job does not require the responsibility of managing or leading others. PROBLEM SOLVING Employees will be expected to become familiar with Continuous Improvement concepts and certifications available through internal training programs. The job requires use of the Scientific Method in day to day problem solving and employees will be expected to use their knowledge in key decision making. This position will include field visits at remote locations requiring the ability to traverse construction sites to flag or mark out secondary service routes. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS Internal Contacts This job requires the exchange of factual information with supervisors and managers. This job requires giving advice/counsel to employees inside and outside its own organizational unit. External Contacts This job exchanges factual information with community leaders, community organizations, consultants, elected government officials, federal government regulatory agencies, industry associations, professional contacts/associations, and public relations/advertising agencies. This job gives advice/counsel to city/state regulatory agencies, industrial customers, municipalities, other utilities, and vendors/suppliers/contractors. Finally, this job requires negotiating with or persuading prospective customers and residential customers. Interpersonal Communications This job requires daily advising or recommending and problem solving. Presentation & Writing Skills This job requires preparation of contracts, form letters, letters, and daily preparation of computer/systems documentation. COORDINATION AND SCHEDULING This job requires planning work for itself and the work of others. It does not have responsibility for budget development. The work flow is organized in such a manner that frequently multiple tasks must be handled at one time; conflicting priorities are reviewed with supervisor and shifted to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. The preferred formal education level is a technical diploma or Associate's degree.
- This job requires a working knowledge of Office applications software (spreadsheets, graphics, database managers, etc.), Basic Electricity concepts and Communication skills. Additionally, this job requires an advanced knowledge of technical illustration/computer aided design and telephone skills.
- This job requires a working knowledge of complaint resolution, and knowledge of customer service.
- This job requires a working knowledge of inspection.
- This job requires a working knowledge of blueprints or drawings or schematics, electrical equipment, measuring devices, mechanical equipment, non-precision tools/instruments. Education Level and Job-related Experience The typical formal education level required to do this job is high school or equivalent.
- The minimum prior job-related experience necessary to do this job is one year.<
