The Assistant Director of Outreach, Impact, and Projects is broadly responsible for the early identification and outreach of student needs including delays to graduation, student outreach, precipitous decline and partnering with the Director and Assistant Vice President of Student Life on reporting and tracking student withdrawals and academic standing.The Assistant Director is responsible for communicating Center for Academic Services and Support (CASA) impact using assessments and data available through Institutional Research and Mines reports. Impact efforts include interactions CASA has with the Mines community, advising appointments, events, and working towards identifying course sequencing along with summer offerings to support efficient time to graduation.
The Assistant Director is also responsible for oversight of all CASA outreach efforts, impact information, projects, and assessments for the sustainability of CASA operations. As part of the CASA extended leadership team, the Assistant Director will support office operations by participating in budget allocation discussions, providing indirect supervision of CASA professional and student staff, and serving as a contact to campus partners.
The Assistant Director role is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, administrative faculty position working within national standards for academic advising set out by NACADA, is expected to abide by FERPA and privacy regulations with all confidential student material. The work takes place primarily on campus in Golden, Colorado.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
Outreach
- Lead and coordinate all student outreach efforts to support student’s retention and matriculation at Mines including implementing D/F/W outreach emails, probation and suspension support emails, mid-term grade communication, non-registered student outreach, GPA recovery policy impact to GPA and SAP .
- Create and implement new outreach efforts relevant to the changing students including but not limited to precipitous decline, non-registered student, and leave of absence communication.
- Develop innovative ways to outreach to students regarding degree completion, support initiatives, and information on ways to reduce common degree errors such as importance of degree sequence.
- Provide guidance and general information on all degree programs at Mines through serving as a backup advisor to all academic advising coordinators and temporarily back-filling as needed.
- Work with CASA leadership team and Registrar’s Office to outreach and promote to student’s relevant summer course work to advance degree completion and time to graduation.
- Serve as an academic coach for CASA to support student growth and development.
- With the guidance of the Director, partner with the Administrative Coordinator, and the Assistant Vice President of Student Life to outreach and support students identified with maximum withdrawals, academic probation status, and academic suspension status to ensure timely notification of academic standing in fall, spring, and summer semesters and report out data to campus stakeholders.
Impact
- Review academic support efforts for effectiveness and student impact towards producing an annual report on impact to student’s retention and/or matriculation.
- Oversight and management of accuracy of Degree Works for CASA and by proxy 18 academic departments/programs
- Assist Academic Advising Coordinators in developing, implementing, and reporting on data for each coordination area through creating assessments.
- Develop satisfaction survey for academic advising appointments and academic support services to report out on program impact.
- Use documented interactions CASA has with the Mines student, faculty, staff, and community via Talkto, Acuity appointments, walk-in advising, events, etc. through developing a record keeping and reporting tool and/or data visualization.
- Guided by the Director, responsible for drafting the CASA annual report along with providing the data needed to support the report, CASA budget, and student programs.
- Use software such as Power BI/Tableau, Qualtrics/Question Pro. to produce data visualizations and impact reports.
- Prepare and reports out via CASA website, presentations, and Student Life meetings the impact and effectiveness of CASA advising, events, programs, and supplemental instruction.
