Responsibilities:

Perform long-term video EEG monitoring on patients in both EMU and ICU settings. Demonstrate proficiency in pattern recognition. Perform job functions following ACNS Guidelines for Neurodiagnostic procedures.

Perform various types of video EEG recordings according to ACNS Guidelines for interpretation by the reading physician.

Identify EEG patterns and artifacts. Communicate with attending physician for analysis and interpretation.

Utilize International 10-20 measurement system to connect leads to the patients head and run EEG study. Perform prescribed testing as ordered by physicians.

Reviews patient's history and educates patient about procedure. Monitors and documents patient's condition and responds to and reports any seizure symptoms.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Accredited Program: Electroencephalograph (Required)CPR Cert American Heart (CPR AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (REEGT) - American Board of Registration of EEG Technologist (ABRET)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of EEG experience (which can include time in clinicals). Other Information: Additional Education Info: Graduate of an Electro-neuro-diagnostic technology program accredited by Commission Accreditation on Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Equivalent EEG training program.
