Duration: Approximately 6 months with a target start date of 4/15/24

 

Rate: $3,500-$4,000/week depending on experience

Summary of Position

The Original Programming Production team is seeking a temporary contractor to act as Post Production Executive. The primary purpose of this position would be to oversee Post Production for the Starz Originals Programming slate which consists primarily of scripted series and some unscripted/documentary series. This position interfaces with Studio post production executive teams providing clarity of technical specifications, approval of key hires and schedules, monitoring of workflow, and being informed of all stages of delivery. Additionally this position interfaces with the Starz Network Operations team to keep them informed of the status of delivery and to work through any quality control issues with the show’s post production team. The role requires balancing and prioritizing the needs across multiple concurrent productions in varying stages of completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of post-production operations. 

Responsibilities

  • Confirm deals, rights, and runtimes with Legal and Business Affairs prior to discussing the delivery requirements and technical specifications with Network Operations and the show’s post production team. Hold all parties accountable to licensing agreements and escalate issues to the appropriate parties when necessary.
  • Work closely with the existing Studio post team to ensure that Network specific needs and goals are being met as they allocate budget, make key hires, and decide on vendor bids. This includes furthering the Starz “Take the Lead” diversity initiative.
  • Participate in external prep, production, and post meetings, table reads, color/mix/VFX reviews, Marketing/PR kick-offs, and weekly/bi-weekly updates interfacing with showrunners, EPs, , post producers, , etc. Give constructive notes.
  • Continuously monitor Starz Creative Executives’ and producers’ feedback to ensure the timely progression of show elements including but not limited to: cuts, main titles, credits, clearances, music, VFX, episodic titles, and QC reports.
  • Provide updates to Starz network teams to strategize global premieres. Obtain asset deadlines and act as the liaison between Publicity, Marketing, Creative Services, Insights & Analytics, Distribution and the show.
  • Track content from dailies to broadcast finals, determine levels of access, and coordinate the sharing of clips and cuts through secure sharing platforms with the proper use of NDAs or MSAs.
  • Routinely assess internal and external processes and procedures to ensure efficiency, timeliness, and the security of material. Negotiate any agreements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in episodic scripted television post production as either a Post Production executive, Post Production Producer or Post Production Supervisor
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, DAX Clear, Airtable, and Scenechronize preferred.
  • Familiar with 4K/UHD, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos workflows as well as the different post and vendor processes required to fulfill the necessary deliverables for broadcast approval.
  • Excellent communication, organization, time/project management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must anticipate potential issues and remain solutions oriented.
