Clinical Research Coordinator I-Personalized Medicine

The Precision Clinical Research Unit in the Institute for Personalized Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has an immediate opening for a full-time bachelor's- or master’s-level (preferred, but not required) Clinical Research Coordinator to perform activities related to participant recruitment and coordination, as well as collection and management of quantitative data. This position is ideal for recent graduates and early-career professionals interested in genetics, serious illness and translational medicine. Experience and/or interest in medicine, public health, epidemiology, or related disciplines is helpful. Our group within the Precision Clinical Research Unit has several projects that bridge the gap between genetics and medical traits. This position may include opportunities for authorship on academic publications.  

1. Conducts routine and standardized human subjects research using appropriate research or interview techniques specific to subject matter of the research project, providing support to the Principal Investigator 
2. Assists in the activities related to clinical research including, but not limited to: obtaining informed consent, screening participants for eligibility, registering patients with sponsoring agencies, administering questionnaires and answering telephone calls 
3. Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation 
4. Coordinate with the research team to ensure proper compliance with institutional and national regulatory requirements
5. Maintain source documents and subject files in accordance with Mount Sinai policies and procedures. Ensures accurate, confidential and complete compilation of data 
6. Report adverse events in accordance with MSSM Institutional Review Board (IRB) SOPs and deliver the subject to the Emergency care 
7. Attend continuing education, safety and compliance training as necessary 
8. May secure and ship clinical specimens as required by the protocol 
9. Should be able to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines  
10. Uses the electronic systems Freezerworks, BioMe LIMS and REDCap for the organization and storage of biospecimens and clinical information, respectively  

Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related field preferred, or combination of relevant research experience  

 

Experience: 

 0 – 2 years of clinical or laboratory research experience 

 Appropriate verbal, written and interpersonal skills 

 Fluency in Spanish is preferred

 Strong attention to detail and accuracy
