In this position you will be responsible for creation of test documentation, test fixturing and setup, and execution of testing that ensure our fire protection products meet the requirements for our commercial and military customers’ aircraft environment.  The applicant will work closely with other test engineers and design engineers in our onsite engineering lab to learn how to perform these activities for qualification testing and testing that supports our operations teams.  Through this interaction with other teams, you will get to know about the Fire Protection Systems business and encounter many of our fire protection products, including control cards, flame detectors, smoke detectors, linear overheat/fire sensors, and fire extinguishers. This role is onsite, in Wilson, NC. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

  • You will support Test Engineers in setting up and executing environmental qualification testing related to DO-160 and MIL-STD-810.
  • You will write test result reports.
  • You will work with the engineers and technicians to resolve issues that come up during test
  • You will learn about fire protection systems and how they are tested.
  • You will support operations in periodic product testing.

What You Will Learn:

  • You will learn the basics of environmental test engineering / documentation.
  • You will learn how DO-160 typically applies to fire protection systems. 
  • You will learn how to operate test equipment such as thermal chambers and vibration tables.
  • You will learn how test engineering interacts with the rest of design engineering and other parts of the business.

  • Working toward a bachelor’s degree in systems, electrical or mechanical engineering.
