The Opportunity
This hands-on engineering role is the technical lead for flavors spray drying and manufacturing processes. You will support a capacity expansion in Sharonville by leading commissioning readiness, equipment qualification, product validation, startup, and process improvement. You will also troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, support new product commercialization, and help standardize best practices across flavors sites.
Essential Functions
- Support commissioning, operational readiness, equipment qualification, product validation, and startup for the Sharonville spray dryer expansion.
- Serve as a technical resource for spray drying, blending, liquid processing, powder handling, granulation, and related flavors manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot quality, yield, throughput, reliability, and operational issues using process data and root cause analysis.
- Lead process scale-up, manufacturing trials, technology transfer, validation protocols, and new product commercialization activities.
- Identify and implement improvements in productivity, waste, capacity, cost, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Develop and improve SOPs, batch records, process instructions, validation methods, and engineering standards.
- Provide process requirements and operational acceptance criteria for equipment installations, upgrades, and capacity projects.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, R&D, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Commercial teams.
- Train manufacturing teams on new or improved processes and support safe, compliant operations.
- Provide technical support across flavors sites and travel domestically or internationally as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Food, Mechanical, Process, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of engineering or manufacturing experience in flavors, food, beverage, ingredients, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, or another process industry.
- Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations, process optimization, troubleshooting, commercialization, scale-up, or startup activities.
- Experience with process data analysis, root cause analysis, validation and qualification, project management, and SOP or batch record development.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work effectively between plant-floor execution and technical discussions.
Preferred Experience
- Spray drying experience and/or vertical startup experience for new processes or equipment.
- Flavor manufacturing or food ingredient processing experience, including blending, liquid processing, powder handling, or formulation scale-up.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DMAIC, statistical process analysis, process controls, automation, or PLC exposure.
- Experience standardizing manufacturing processes across multiple sites
