Assistant Education Administrator (Education Branch)

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following: Basic Requirements: A. Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above. AND In addition to meeting the above Basic Requirements, applicants must have: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GS-13: - Experience assisting in the development of program quality standards. - Experience in designing and implementing data collection and reporting systems and research to assist in evaluating the effectiveness of education, vocational and leisure programs in the Federal Prisons System and facilitate positive inmate management. - Experience helping establish staffing standards in the selection of personnel to work in and supervise educational, vocational, and leisure-time programs within a correctional setting. GS-14: - Experience developing and reviewing policy for the establishment and operation of education, vocational, and leisure activity programs. - Experience evaluating programs, instructional methods, materials, equipment, facilities and staff to ensure a current and responsive system of education, vocational and leisure activity programs. - Experience advising Program Review teams that review and evaluate inmate education, recreation, and training programs. Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
