Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector to contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality construction projects. This role involves confirming compliance with project design and specifications, industry standards for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of mechanical installations while collaborating with a team of professionals dedicated to excellence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Monitor the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and plumbing systems, confirming proper functionality and performance
- Inspect mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, for compliance with contract requirements and industry standards
- Review contractor shop drawings and submittals to confirm alignment with project specifications
- Identify, document and report non-conformances, coordinating with contractors and engineers to implement corrective actions
- Conduct labor interviews to verify proper worker classification and wage compliance
- Immediately notify contractors and relevant officials of any potentially life-threatening safety conditions
- Maintain detailed inspection reports, logs, and records for quality assurance and compliance tracking
- Oversee corrective actions for unacceptable construction work and support final inspections, punch lists, and project closeouts
- Witness and document critical tests, such as pressure tests, leak tests, and system start-ups
- Verify the quality of materials, workmanship, and equipment installations to confirm adherence to project specifications
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Construction, Electrical engineering + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience with local and national codes
- Experience with construction methods and techniques
Preferred Requirements:
- Eight (8) years building construction experience with emphasis on Quality Assurance/Quality Control with oversight responsibility for mechanical/HVAC, plumbing systems
- Experience working on federal and high education managed construction projects
- Experience in reviewing contractor shop drawings and submittals
- Experience working in and around historic properties and occupied modernizations are desirable
- OSHA 10-hour training certification
- Certified Construction Quality Manager for Contractors (CQM-C) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
- Experience working with federal Project Management Systems
