Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for Duke Gastroenterology in Durham, NC.  The APP provides medical care to adult patients with liver conditions in general hepatology outpatient clinic.

 

Duties may include but are not limited to those listed below and may include other outpatient procedures or services as deemed appropriate by the supervising physician. Current position would be predominantly outpatient clinic sessions at Duke Gastroenterology at Duke South Clinic 2J and Duke Gastroenterology North Durham outpatient clinic.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Record the history of present illness, past medical, family and social history, perform physical examinations in both outpatient and hospital setting
• Establish and follow plan of care, when needed in conjunction with MD; Communicate regularly with referring inpatient team
• Prescribe appropriate medications to a specialty pharmacy that will handle prior authorization and other necessary paperwork; Order refills as needed
• Perform Fibroscan and Paracentesis procedures
• Patient and family teaching
• Order appropriate labs, tests and procedures and follow up with patient as needed
• Coordinate care and refer to other medical professionals as needed
• Document clinic, telephone, and other patient encounters in the Epic (Maestro) system
• Review lab results in Maestro, communicate and interpret results
• Collaborate with HUB Triage Nurses regarding patient triage and return patients calls within 24-48 hours; Provide feedback regarding sch
